Trekking in the Baliem Valley: Credits

To give credit where credit is due, I am grateful for the information we were able to collect prior to our trip from the following sources. As they say, we are all standing on the shoulders of those who came before us.

1. Lonely Planet Guide to Indonesia: where I got the idea, liked the sound of it, and put it on the to-do list. An idea is a powerful thing!

2. These guys’ blog: http://baliemvalleytrekking.blogspot.com/ -- To Jaco Roesch and Nate Roter, a huge thank you for the most complete description of what we were going to find. Your blog was the reason we brought Thai chili sauce for the sweet potatoes, and the Mentos for the kids. J It is definitely still a very relevant read.

3. This guy’s map: http://www.thisboundlessworld.com/papua-map-and-guide-to-independent-trekking-in-the-baliem-valley -- while not perfect, and not to scale, it proved to be the best useable map we found on the internet, and served its purpose for us to get around. We used it every day, and it pretty much made the mission possible.

OK, Good Luck!
